Nag @ Startups.in was gracious enough to send out a prompt invite to Dropbox at my request.
I just love the whole concept of storing all your stuff in a single repository that is accessible anywhere at any time. GigaOm has a detailed review of the service here.
If you would like an invite from Startups.in for a free Beta 5GB account, you can click here.

I recently stumbled upon squidoo, creating a lens through which visitors can view the world. A lens only points to content rather than store the content according to Seth Godin. I found a few lens impressive and informative like this one.
seventymm, an indian online video rental service - a la Netflix is doing well. It has close to 9000 subscribers and is scaling it’s services to other cities. It should be interesting to watch how successful the venture is in the coming year. Indians are big movie buffs but would they be willing to pay 500 Rs per month as service fees while regular video outlets charge 30 Rs per DVD?
Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha was a good read, although too abstruse in parts. Iaccoca’s autobiography was colorful and astounding, I immensely enjoyed reading it. I have read a few excerpts of Seth Godin’s books, I am looking forward to getting my hands on Purple Cow. Made in Japan, Sony CEO Akio Morita’s autobiography is next on my list.

I am new to web design
and I am picking up things as I am designing my site - After reading all those articles on webmonkey and A List Apart, I started laying out pages using css
and avoided using tables.
Now when the layout is almost 50% done, I am facing compatibility issues between different browsers - how to keep my footer fixed, have 3 columns on my mainpage etc. Enough to make my head hurt !!
The browsers need to conform to the w3c standards rather than come up with their own rules - it sucks and it’s a lot of hard work.

Firefox has been a favorite browser of mine for the past few months because of it’s cool features - tabbed browsing, RSS feeds, extensions, open source and sleek interface.
You agree too, right? Here’s a link that debunks all the above conceived notions on Firefox, enough to rattle your confidence in the browser. With many new browsers like Flock, Seamonkey and Maxthon trying to capture IE’s dominant market share with add-ons, there’s real innovation in this space coming up.
But I really do wonder if these browsers are any safer and better than IE or Opera? I am moving onto Opera from today, the most secure and the first to integrate most of the features mentioned above. So much secure, that there have been no unpatched vulnerabilities according to the link.

You lead a busy life, hopping from one event to the next everyday. You note down the events on your palm pilot or on the Notepad/Outlook calendar. If you were wishing for a webapp where your weekly/monthly events could be marked and available online, welcome to 30boxes, the online calendar and daily planner.
30boxes has a pretty simple and neat interface - you can add tags to all your events, share your activities with your buddies and also compile a list of to-do items.
They also have a cool button, sign up and organize your life!
