Incredible 3D drawings

If you are not familiar with the name Julian Beever, you should be! His drawings lending a vision of reality in 3D are astounding to say the least. You can find a sample of his work here.

Sandstorms

We had a 'Take your sons and daughters to work' day yesterday. It was nice to see young kids between the ages of nine and fifteen walking around learning what their parents did and where they worked. Any corporation needs to encourage these kind of activities and community services - it makes the environment healthy and also exposes the future generation to the latest in technology and different career opportunities they could pursue if inclined.

A sandstorm in Iraq this week - reminds me of the movie 'The Mummy'.

bad karma

pictures, personal No Comments

Another 27 days, R and I will be living under the same roof. It should be interesting to see how things turn up having lived all alone for the past five years. Many vouch that the first year of living together is a bliss, even if the couple dont see eye to eye on some matters - compromises being the order of the day and being more understanding and loving. It should be an exciting period, R and I have been waiting eagerly to the D-day.It must be bad karma or someone's envy jinxed me, my Rio Karma just froze up today while downloading a few songs from my PC. I plugged the USB port and I could not turn off or turn on the Karma, it was locked up. I was fearing a hard disk failure and irreparable damage to the mp3 player - no recovery mode.

I visited a few forums - most of the reviews reported the same issue after a few months. The Rio hard drive is not stable and worse, the player comes only with a 90 day warranty. So if you run into this problem after the warranty expires, you are shit out of luck (SOL), got to cough up another 170 bucks for Rio to replace it with a new one.

I visited the Rio support page and I found that the freeze occurs quite frequently and the solution was to reset the player using a paper clip! I went looking around for a paper clip (who carries one?) for most part of an hour and reset - boom, the player shut down and came back alive. So, if you do own a karma, dont leave that paper clip behind.

As an interesting exercise, I arranged all my bday gifts this year and snapped a pic.
