My first post in 2008.

After months of deliberation, I registered for the 2008 PGCBM business management program being offered by XLRI via Hughes Globalnet. I was shortlisted for the interview and I am fairly hopeful that I will get in. Classes start in May and the course is 14 months long, I am looking forward to being in a classroom (virtual anyway) again!

I drove down to Vythiri Resorts at Wayanad this weekend along with my friend’s family, it was a great drive and we had a good time at the resort amidst nature. Kerala boasts of beautiful, picturesque places lush with green forests and lakes. Throw in the ayurvedic massages and great climate, it’s a great tourist place to unwind.

I sprained my foot while playing basketball and the doc confirmed that it’s a hairline fracture that will take couple of months to recover. Funny, I have never had a fracture before.

Wildly waiting to watch Coen brothers’ latest movie, currently reading Calvin and Hobbes, Osho’s self-awareness and First Things First by Stephen Covey.

Prabhudeva makes it to the LGF board :)

Watched “A Mighty Heart” today, I thought it was an okay movie until I googled for Asra and came across this piece. One of my friends had emailed me the Daniel Pearl video and I remember being sick in the stomach watching it. And looking at the current emergency scenario in Pakistan, things will get much worse before they get any better.

I am a Dad now ! Our daughter was born on Nov 5 2007 :) I can spend hours just watching her sleep.

Recently read “What should I do with my life?” by Po Bronson - a riveting read. Po follows real ordinary folks and how they handle crisis in their lives and try to add meaning to their lives. Written in a clear and concise manner with his brilliant insights, Po cautions that this is not a “quick fix” book but we can learn from the characters written about. How hard is it to find answers to the simple questions in life ! Highly recommended !! Michael Lewis and Po are two non-fiction authors I have discovered in the past year and I am glad I did. For more on Po Bronson, you can click here.

Webcredible is a site I stumbled upon this week - informative articles on how to make your site more effective and more user friendly.

Fantasy Football drafts are done and I have a good team this year. Need to watch how well they fare this year. With cricket series going on, the NFL games are not going to be telecast - that’s a big bummer ! Tony Romo or Rex Grossman for QB, that’s the dilemma!

My own website

personal No Comments

So, I have finally moved to my own website - I am planning to add a few more categories/interests apart from this blog using CSS/PHP. Google Analytics, Adsense, the whole works. Hopefully by end of September, so stay tuned.

I chose Bluehost as my webhost, mainly because it’s cheap and used more prevalently than others according to reviews.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Essentially, there are only four different things you can do to improve the quality of your life and work:

  • You can do more of certain things. You can do more of the things that are of greater value to you and bring you greater rewards and satisfaction.
  • You can do less of certain things. You can deliberately decide to reduce or discontinue activities or behaviors that are not as helpful as other activities or behaviors or can actually be hurtful to you in accomplishing the things you want.
  • You can start to do things you are not doing at all today. You can make new choices, learn new skills, begin new projects or activities, or change the entire focus of your work or personal life.
  • you can stop doing certain things altogether. You can stand back and evaluate your life with new eyes. You can then decide to discontinue activities and behaviors that are no longer consistent with what you want and where you want to go.

Is Gordon Brown for real ? - read this piece and judge for yourself. Better wake up and realize that time to take stern measures to combat this menace is NOW !

A reality check to India based on yesterday’s findings as breeding ground for terrorists - Honestly, did we really expect to be shielded - radicalism, lack of security and poverty being the root causes?

LGF blogs on the war on terror, a great source on what’s happening around the world.
